Coloured PCR reagents

For the detection of the PCR product by PAGE / agarose electrophoresis we also offer polymerases and master mixes with colored buffers.

Our colored buffers contain compounds that increase the sample density, making it easier for the samples to sink into the pockets of the agarose gel, what saves time and reagents when loading the agarose gel with the PCR product. Another important advantage of our colored PCR reagents is the color coding. These do not affect the course of the PCR process, however, serve as a visible loading control during gel electrophoresis and allow monitoring of the migration of the PCR product through the gel. The color markings run at the same height as certain DNA fragments.

The green buffer offered by Astra Biotech GmbH contains two color markers - blue and orange. The blue colored marker migrates at the level of ≈ 400bp and the orange one at the level of a ≈ 20bp DNA fragment through a 1% agarose gel.

The red buffer offered by Astra Biotech GmbH contains a red color marker, which migrates at the level of a ≈ 50bp DNA fragment through a 1% agarose gel.
